Hancock's Oates steps down, McClellan named chair

James Oates has stepped down from chairing the John Hancock Funds board after 11 years at the helm; he will remain as an independent director and chairman of an investment sub-committee. Hassell McClellan, an independent director since 2001 who had been chairing the board's compliance committee, replaced Oates on Jan. 1.
