ETF celebrates 25th birthday

The first exchange-traded fund turns 25 this week. Since the debut of that first ETF, the funds have come to dominate the financial landscape. Today, there are almost 7,200 exchange-traded products worldwide with $4.8 trillion in assets, according to London-based research firm ETFGI.
