From the Editor...

There's been a lot of talk about swing pricing, the hard close, and liquidity management lately as the mutual fund industry weighed in on the SEC's rule proposal on those topics before the comment period ended. Fund boards even had a lot to say, with around 30 submitting comment letters urging the regulator to abandon its plans. We've kept readers in the know in a variety of ways: reporting on the fund governance industry's response to the proposal, compiling a 10 Things list on specifics from boards' comment letters, and by inviting Susan J. Templeton to give us her thoughts on potential unintended consequences should the rule be finalized in its current form.

Stayed tune as this moves forward and the SEC makes its next move. We'll be following this one through the regulatory process and reporting along the way.

In other regulatory news, the SEC has released its examination priorities for 2023. This is a yearly occurrence and sometimes the priorities touch on issues related to or overseen by the fund board, and sometimes they don't; this year, they did, so you don't want to miss it.

We also recently reported on the death of an industry veteran and innovator, Dick Carnall of RBB Fund. Catch up on all the recent news by downloading the February and December/January PDFs. And reach out if there's a topic you'd like to read about. We love to hear from you!

For now,
