Happy Summer! It sure has come in strong across much of the country, but as we all know, it'll be gone in the blink of an eye. So, enjoy these dog days and warm nights as much as you can. And READ! Our annual Summer Book List was published last week, on the Summer Solstice, and as usual, it's chock full of great recommendations—from books about copyright law and achieving success in the workplace to novels about immigration and race relations to biographies of Elon Musk and Mitt Romney. But one of my favorite features of this annual summer tradition is the "bonus" section, which includes books written by mutual fund directors and governance pros. This year, we've got novels, short stories, a memoir, a self-help book centered on family wealth, and a kids book about money and finance.

In other news, we had the opportunity to interview FAM Funds Chairman Paul Keller recently and discuss his board's approach to recruiting, how the board is being reshaped (without a mandatory retirement policy), and some of the challenges this small-fund complex board faces in today's regulatory environment. We also took a look recently into the Alger Funds boardroom, which has nominated three new independents to join the group. If elected, these three will add both gender and racial diversity to the Alger Funds boardroom.

In recent weeks, we've also reported on Vanguard Funds' first-ever independent chair and why this change may have been made now and interviewed the independent chair of WisdomTree Digital Trust. Don't miss these insightful stories.

Finally, our latest Viewpoints is written by MFDF's Dianne Descoteaux and examines challenges faced by small-fund directors and offers guidance on how to meet those challenges. There's a lot of great information in this piece—for small and large alike!

As always, we are on the lookout for new voices to feature in our Viewpoints section. If you've got a topic you want to write about or an opinion you'd like to share, get in touch (email me here). Viewpoints is not behind our paywall and can be easily shared—via a link and/or PDF—with colleagues, peers, clients, friends, and family. The content is valuable to our readers, and the exposure is great for our authors!

For now,
