American Outdoor Brands, the maker of Smith & Wesson guns, issued a nine-page response late Tuesday to a request by its largest shareholder, BlackRock, for a meeting to discuss questions BlackRock had in the wake of the Parkland, Fla., high school mass shooting that killed 17 students and teachers last month. In its statement, American Outdoor Brands defended its safety efforts and said it would avoid taking any “politically motivated” actions that could hurt its business.
