Funds weighed down by financials

Some mutual funds have been getting weighed down so far this year by poor-performing financial stocks. Current valuations on large U.S. banks are factoring in “pessimistic, dire” scenarios that are unlikely to come true, says Emory Sanders, co-manager of the John Hancock Fundamental Large Cap Value Fund. Financial stocks in the S&P 500 declined 12.5% this year through Tuesday, while the broader index was down 6%.
