Bitcoin surging this year

In April 2013, bitcoin rose from $100 for a single bitcoin to $200 over an eight-day period. Last week, it rose from $2,600 to $2,700 in just four hours. It is up more than 400% over the past 12 months and up 155% in 2017 so far, according to pricing site CoinDesk.
