SEC poised to decide fate of bitcoin ETF

The Securities and Exchange Commission is due to decide this week whether to give a green light to a new exchange-traded fund that would provide investors easier access to bitcoin. An ETF could serve as a bridge from bitcoin’s current status as a counterculture technology to mainstream acceptance. Enthusiasm about a bitcoin-based ETF helped drive the currency to a new record near $1,300 last week.
