Is UBS gearing up to sell Americas unit?

UBS’s New York-based Americas unit could go on the block, according to Alois Pirker, an analyst at Aite Group. Pirker, a former UBS employee in London and Switzerland, says the Swiss bank has “no interest in brokerage.” UBS Wealth Management Americas is a “marketing outlet” beset with moneymaking and profitability challenges, he said.
