From the Editor...
Many great things happen in March. For one, it's Women's History Month. Also, we get to celebrate Fat Tuesday, St. Patrick's Day, and Holi, and we welcome the return of spring. I won't mention the whole spring forward thing with the clocks because, honestly, I'm still adjusting...
This year in honor of International Women's Day on March 8, we decided to highlight female '40 Act lawyers. These women counsel, guide, and generally keep the mutual fund industry well informed and in line, and their clients love them. To put together this list of 10 kick a$s lawyers, we asked fund directors themselves to tell us whom to include. It was such a fun little project, and we're so proud—and in awe—of the 10 women who made our list. Check it out.
In current events, we've all watched the Russia-Ukraine war unfold over the past several weeks. There is so much to say about the situation, and we asked fund governance pros to weigh in on what types of discussions might be necessary in the industry's boardrooms. It's an interesting and enlightening read, so please be sure to make time for this important story.
We wrapped up our 10in10 series on top regulatory developments in the 2010-2020 decade, with authors Buddy Donohue and Kim Kaufman covering the fair valuation and derivatives rules in the final two installments. Look out soon for an ebook containing all 10 of the articles from the series; we think it'll be a useful and convenient reference tool for our readers.
It's almost time for the ICI's annual funds conference out in Palm Desert, which will be in person this year for the first time since 2019. I am unable to be there (family wedding in Iceland), which is so disappointing, but I'm wishing all the attendees a fabulous time reconnecting and enjoying all that the event and the area have to offer. Safe travels!
For now,
