From the Editor...
For three weeks in July, we ran a series on tokenization written by Ethan Corey, Michael Koffler, and Carolynn Garcia from Eversheds Sutherland: "Tokenization: Benefits, risks, and its impact on fund business"; "Tokenization: Investment potential, trading, and best ex"; and "Tokenization: Liquidity, custody, contracts—and the road ahead". The series delved into what tokenization is, how it works, and—most importantly for FBV readers—how boards can come to grips with what it means from an oversight and governance perspective. The series has been a big hit, and we have now posted an e-book that includes all three installments in one easy-to-download PDF. You can access this e-book and others in the E-book Library on our website.
Last week we announced our refreshed and expanded Editorial Think Tank, a group of fund governance professionals tasked with helping to guide and assess our coverage and direction as we approach our 10-year anniversary in the fall—and beyond. FBV's content exclusively covers mutual fund boards and fund governance issues and is always tailored to serve our readers' needs. You don't need to read about general mutual fund industry or regulatory happenings in FBV; you need to know how industry and regulatory developments may impact the fund boardroom. Our Editorial Think Tank keeps us current and in the know—check out member bios here.
In other news, the collapse earlier this month of the SEC's case against Pinnacle Advisors and its fund's board has put the liquidity risk management rule in the spotlight. We've spoken exclusively to industry experts about what the dismissal of the case may mean and how boards should be thinking about the liquidity rule going forward. Again, we don't just report that the case was dismissed; we break down what it means for fund independent directors.
Also, don't miss our recent Q&A about opening up access to private markets to retail investors. We tapped Chris Healey from Davis Polk, Jesse Kanach from Stradley Ronon, and SEC Division of Investment Management veteran Doug Scheidt to discuss this topic and explore some of the challenges around it.
For now,
