SEC awards $7m to three whistleblowers

The Securities and Exchange Commission has awarded $7 million to three whistleblowers. One of the three brought the tip that was “a primary impetus” for starting the agency’s investigation, and that person will receive more than $4 million, the SEC said. The others jointly provided new information during the course of the SEC probe that “significantly contributed” to the success of the SEC’s action in the case; they will split more than $3 million, the SEC said.
