FT: GM wrong to appoint Barra chairman

General Motors has made a mistake in naming Mary Barra chairman. The U.S. car company's board "has succumbed to the idea that the chairmanship is a medal, to be awarded to deserving chief executives, rather than an important check on the hubris and self-delusion that can sometimes infect even the most down-to-earth leaders," Andrew Hill writes in the FT.
